Most of the #children don’t find interest in #learning #history because they don’t know #how to learn history. Today, in this post, I would like to explore ‘ How To #Learn History? ‘ Before I explain ‘how to learn history,’ I must explain ‘Why learn History? ‘
Why Learn History?
History teaches us to learn from our mistakes . It also makes us feel proud of our old, rich, and cultural heritage . It make us knowledgable about our ancestors mistakes, so that we will not repeat our mistakes in future . When Napoleon Bonaparte was asked his message to the Nation, he replied, “Children of my country should be taught the history of the nation.” So a nation can build history if citizens of the nation remember the history of their nation. #History boosts self-confidence for future progress.
History of one’s own :
History is not of one’s nation or world . It can be of one’s own personal history . I want to say that if you know your own history , it will be better for you to progress . Because if a child know the history of his parents , it will teach him better to progress . He will learn from mistakes of his own . If we see the history of some great personalities , we come to know that how they struggled to make a success in their own life . Today these great people are our source of inspiration . We should learn from our own mistakes to progress in future .
How To Learn History :
History is not only related with the past , it is cause of the present , and what is today will result in future . So while we learn History , we should try to connect the past with present and present with future .
History is not alone , it is built by science , geography and polity . So we should co-relate history with all these branches of learning . Shiva’s Guerrilla war technique was result of the geographical regions of Maharashtra , because of which no one could defeat Maratha during his life time . Second world war was the consequence of the first world war . Both the world wars were caused due scientific inventions and intolerant policies of the then polity of the world .
So we should try to connect past events with geography and science , then it becomes interesting to learn .
Textual history is not Complete :
History given in text-books may not be always complete , so children need to search those historical events either on internet or in library ; because text-book history is printed by considering government policies ; so before forming a view about any historical hero or personality , we should read in detail about them .
History is interesting :
History is interesting , if you look into it as a research student , you should think it as a fiction or novel and enjoy the juices of real novels . Imagine the events and keep yourself some where in the plot and think what you could have done if you were in the happenings of the history . Ask questions to yourself , what you could have done if you were there in the place of a particular historical personality ? I have collected some useful links for you :
There are several you tube channels which help to visualize historical events better , in following video you will see how human being evolved from an Ape man to present age human being .
