Never Judge a Book by its Cover

Students

It was a stormy night when I left my uncle’s home. I did not have an umbrella, and I was completely soaked from the top of my head to the bottom of my toes. I suddenly saw a shelter, and I ran there as fast as I could and saw a man inside. I went in and, I sat on the chair. The man was wearing torn clothes, and I thought about giving him some money. But before I could do something, he asked me, “Where do you want to go? Do you want to go home?” I replied, “Yes.” He then asked me, “Where is your home? I can drop you off if you tell me.” I was shocked. After seeing his clothes and his house, I was unable to imagine that he had a car. He soon went out and brought his rickshaw and told me to get in. I got into the rickshaw, and he gave me a wide piece of cloth to dry myself with. He dropped me off at my house. I asked him about giving him some money, and with a gentle smile, he replied, “No need for the money. I have dropped you off for free.”
